My new motto is Buy less, acquire more. I want to stop myself buying spur of the moment bits and start becoming a little more mindful because I usually find I'll buy a lot of things I don't really need or like that much only to have run out of money for something I did really like or want. It's a never ending dilemma for someone who finds shopping quite the addiction using it as everything from therapy to self-congratulation but I'm hoping to master it to make way for some of the more expensive items that I'd quite happily adore to add to my collection.
With that being said I popped into town with a few gift cards on my usual Tuesday errand run and food shop and bought a few bits. I started in Shoe Zone mainly because they're cheap, cheerful and cater for my size 9 feet. I'd bought a pair of Tom-alikes last week in a washed out denim colour but fancied a pair in black for every day just because they were so comfortable and right there on the counter sat these Dr Marten inspired patent shoes. I'd been looking at them online for weeks but didn't purchase as I wasn't quite sold so I was a bit disheartened when I found my local shop didn't stock them at all. Someone in my size had brought in an online return and they were mine. They're not to everyone's tastes but I can imagine these with a little skirt and tights with an oversized top, can't you? Of course, I also bought the black Tom style comfiest-pair-ever shoes.
The rest are all beauty purchases. The No7 eye make up remover was reduced to £2 as was the Crabtree & Evelyn Pomegranate hand cream which are both necessities in my book as I was running low on both. I picked up the Bourjois Healthy Mix serum in shade 51 as I'm looking for a new foundation that ticks all the boxes. I love the Healthy Mix foundation so we'll see how the serum works out as I haven't used it in a really long time and have all but forgotten how it sits on the skin. A repurchase of Collection's Lasting Perfection concealer in Fair plus two new purchases - Soap & Glory's Brow Archery in Brownie and Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet in OlĂ© Flamingo! which might just be lust at first use. Reviews to come soon on both of those so if you're interested, stick around. The only thing I didn't want/need beforehand was the new No7 Lash Impact mascara which, if I'm honest I bought because I needed a new mascara and the packaging hooked me and reeled me right in. Bright red and sparkly? Gimme. It's not a wow product but I don't regret buying it just yet - I'm just going to see if it improves with age and use.
The aim of this little mission is to only buy things that a) I've wanted for over a month or b) that I've needed for more than two weeks (which gives me time to use other, forgotten products in their place). Hopefully this will curb my spending just enough that I can enjoy a big purchase like a much needed new watch or camera lens. Anyway, do you have or like anything I've picked up?
I'd love to hear your thoughts on that boujoi foundation, I've eyeing it for some time but haven't gone for it yet! :) x

I totally agree with how you're trying to save money. I like keeping an eye on shoes that I like so that when they come on sale, I get the satisfaction of not only owning them, but paying half the price! It also helps me make sure that I actually really want them, since I have to wait it out for a while.
