Packing For Your Holiday *

Image from We Heart It

With the summer season just a few months away your throughts are no doubt turning to that sunshine break you booked for your family. Whether you're hotfooting it to Turkey, the Balearics, or heading to Cornwall for a UK beach break, you'll be thinking about what you need to take with you.

When you're travelling with kids it can seem like you're trying to mobilise an army. Sometimes just going to the shops feels that way, let alone on holiday with them. But with a bit of advance planning you can make sure everything gets done in time and that you have everything you could possibly need for your holiday:

Luggage
Make sure you have enough suitcases and hand luggage for your needs. If you've had another child since the last time you've been on holiday, or your cases were falling apart the last time you went away, chances are you'll need some new ones. Check your suitcases well in advance of your holiday, especially if they've been stored in a garage or loft, as they may have fallen victim to mice, squirrells or even damp since you last saw them and checking them now will give you plenty of time to replace them before your holiday.

Clothes
Children don't need loads of clothes on holiday. More often than not you pack way more than you'll ever wear thanks to spending lazy days by the pool or on the beach in only your swimwear. So what do your little darlings needs on holiday? Swimwear, either one or two sets - it doesn't take up much room after all. Sandals and flip flops or comfy shoes, depending on where you're off to and whether you prefer a little action in your holiday or you want complete relaxation. Shorts and T shirts or vests and something for the evening, for example girls dresses and maybe linen trousers and a shirt for the boys. George at ASDA's girls dresses are perfect for holidays and you'll find some other great holiday clothes for all the family there too. Other items to take include a cardigan or sweater for cooler evenings and comfortable clothes to travel home in.

Added Extras
Kids might want to take a favourite toy with them on holiday and you'll need to get a few things together to keep them occupied on long car journeys or flights. A great idea is to put together a travel bag with some of their favourite things, something to read, something to draw, and some form of electrical game or tablet, if they have one, is sure to feature on that list too. This will ensure they are happy to entertain themselves for a few hours without the constant 'are we there yets' you'll be guaranteed to get otherwise.

Making a list of everything you'll need for your holiday well in advance and ticking it off as you organise it and pack it is a great way of ensuring that you have all bases covered. Leaving you to relax once you arrive at your holiday destination and treat yourself to a well deserved cocktail.
