Gone are the days of dodgy nail varnishes and blue eyeshadow freebies secured to magazines on the newsstand - grown up freebies are around to stay. I mentioned here a little while ago that I don't seem to be buying much new make up or skin care recently and re-using old favourites but when I browsed the stands in my local newsagents, I was pleasantly surprised. It's summer so everyone's loving the miniature freebies to pop in their luggage for their holidays but since I'm not going anywhere this year the main reasons for me picking up so many are a) they're really good freebies. Like, really b) I love all things miniature (maybe because I'm not so?) and c) I genuinely fancied trying something new without shelling out a lot of money on products I may hate.
I don't hate any of these magazines but the only ones I read every month are ELLE, Company and (most months) Glamour. I find magazines soothing when reading in the bath or with a mug of coffee so alongside these free products I also get some new reading material for the weeks ahead.
The two products I've tried so far and really loved have been the Rodial lip balm which tastes pleasantly of rose and is generally just very moisturising without being heavy or sticky so is going straight in my every day make up bag and the berry toned lip and cheek stick which isn't soft as I would have thought and much more of a crayon. I find some crayons to melt quite easily onto the skin but this takes a little work so I can build the colour up which is essential for me, especially on already rosy cheeks. I'm hoping to pick up another two Glamour magazines to get the two mini Clinique Chubby Sticks too which I already adore but that'll have to wait as they're not in my local newsagents. I can't wait to test out the moisturiser though as I've heard such great things but didn't want to invest without knowing how it'd react on my skin.
Will you be picking any of these up this month?
I got the new kid lip tint. I think its pretty cool. I love to read a mag in the bath too :)
ReplyDeleteI've wanted to try Malin+Goetz for ages, I may pop up to Tesco on my lunch break and see if they've got any of these magazines in stock. I have a long train journey up to Scotland tomorrow and I love having a magazine in my bag to flick through.

You are so lucky that you get freebies in the UK, we never get any in Austria :( They all look so great! :) x
ReplyDeleteI bought four copies of Glamour for all of the freebies. I'm most excited to try the moisturiser too xx
