If you follow me on Instagram you may notice that after years of planning and stalling because, well, life - boyfriend and I are (finally) tying the knot this October! Needless to say people are surprised that it's so soon but my great-grandma is wearing out with age and I just cannot risk her not being there when my mother and nanna already aren't. That's one reason, anyway. Another is because we've been engaged for four years now and it was never the intention for there to be a long engagement and life just got in the way between pregnancies and unemployment, new jobs and new directions so now we're both in a place where we can pull this thing off? Well we're doing it our way.

Our way involves it being very small and budget-friendly. There'll be twenty five close friends and family at the ceremony all of whom are paying for their own roast dinner as a wedding present at the pub we're hiring out for the evening (the pub where boyfriend and I first met). In the evening there'll be drinks and dancing with everyone else we know who we want to celebrate with us. We have a budget of £1300 for everything (including the legal fees) so I'm already planning out a check list for deposits and full payment dates along with projects that will help make our day feel special.

I'll be documenting everything here from purchases to the things I make and all the little things that make the day big along the way. Planning a wedding in three months is apparently difficult to do but even more difficult on such a tiny budget, I've been told. I will compromise on a lot, I will admit. For me the day is about getting married, having some great photographs of the day to remember it by and dancing and everything else can fall apart as long as those things are set in stone - even if we're just dancing around a tree! I'm pretty low-maintenance but the one thing I have insisted on is that I trust my photographers 100% and have the photos I want. I'll do a post all about the couple we've chosen very soon (and it just so happens that they're fantastic people and friends) but I can rest assured that they 'get' my aesthetic from the get-go which is thoroughly important to me.

I've put together a little collection of photos from Pinterest of things I am having and inspiration for things I am making/having something very similar. Tea length bridal dress? Check. Simple white buttercream iced cake? Check. Flat shoes for comfort and a navy bridal party? Check check! I've already ordered a few bits so I can't wait to receive them and tomorrow I'm off for a wedding dress fitting with my best friend and maid of honour which I'm extremely nervous about! Wish me luck!

  2. Congratulations! I can't imagine planning a wedding in such a short space of time - I had a year to plan mine, and whilst for the final few months I had nothing left to do, just the very idea is so daunting! I take my hat off to you (and as someone who has planned a wedding before, I'm more than happy to offer any advice and insight I can)!
