I was always that child that begged their parents to take them to Disneyland Paris. In my seven year old mind it wasn't far away, it was closer than Spain which we frequented on holidays abroad plus DISNEY. However, it wasn't to be (but Spain was - yes, I'm still bitter) and my love affair with France grew. I swore that as an adult I would spend weekends there just because and yet at twenty five years old, I still haven't been. Between life happening and finances struggling it's never been an option and while I still have a growing list of things I want to see in France inspired ever more so by Tumblr and Pinterest that go beyond Paris, it's not on the agenda any time soon. I even asked if we could go there for a weekend as a honeymoon after boyfriend and I got married. Boyfriend hates France. Boyfriend said no.
So that's that, then. Except no, it isn't. I've spent almost two decades fantasising about France and while I have built it up in my head to be like a scene from Midnight In Paris with me wearing something ever so chic and sipping coffee and red wine constantly, I know it won't be a disappointment. I will be there by thirty. I will twirl around lamp posts, take photos of everything and anything and generally be that tourist because I can. As obnoxious as it may be for locals the entire idea of France seems fantastic. Paris is always a good idea.
My selfies above are silly but I really do surround myself with things I love, it seems. I don't have that photo in front of famous landmarks just yet but watch this space, you never know. IHG Rewards Club & Eurostar are holding an super simple competition celebrating 20 years of the channel tunnel to win a luxury trip to either London or Paris! All you need to do to enter is to post a brilliantly British or fabulously French selfie on Instagram with the hashtag #IHGselfie. There will be a winner in both countries so what are you waiting for? It's all here on their website! If you win and I don't, take me with you?
Awwww, I really really hope you get there soon x
ReplyDeleteI hope you get there soon! At 27 I'm still waiting...to visit both Paris and Disney! xx
ReplyDeleteWell I hope you win chick! I have indeed been to Paris! Last year with Jon actually, you can Mega Bus it there!!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love Paris, to be honest I go far too often but it's always so magical! If you're on a budget literally go with megabus, it takes a while to get there but it's crazy cheap! What I love about the closeness of it is that if you're strained for time you can go for a day on the Eurostar. That's what I'm gonna do on my next visit!

I really hope you get to Paris one day as I dream to visit Tokyo one day :) I took a weekend trip there with my mum last year and it was wonderful. Planning on going to Disneyland next year with friends though!

I really hope you make it there one day. Paris is magical, I don't even like cities all that much (hate London, for example) but I LOVE Paris. I'd love to explore more of France too, so silly I live so close (south coast of England) but never go! xx
ReplyDeleteI've never been either, but I too fantasise about it. Also I discovered that booking well in advance on the Eurostar can get you a return journey for £60, something you can definitely save up for ay :) x
ReplyDeleteI go to France most years as my grandparents live in Normandy but I have never been to Paris. Hoping to go this year. Fingers crossed you get to go

Boyfriend says no.. so what? Grab a girlfriend and explore France / Paris or wherever - enjoy yourself or you'll regret it later on :P
ReplyDeleteI went to Paris when I was about ten but didn't really appreciate it then so I'd love to go back one day. I hope you'll get there as well sweetie. I love the print you're holding in the left hand picture - do you mind me asking where it's from?
