I woke up this morning determined to have a great day. The sun was shining, the weather was warm with a slight breeze and I just knew that our local car boot sale which is bustling even in winter would be double the size today. And so it was. After being stuck in traffic with my best friend for half an hour just trying to get in amongst the buyers and sellers and spending two hours walking around with hands that hurt from too many bags and a lethargy that only comes from exercise in what proved to be quite a lot of heat - well, we both came home with a lot of things.
All of this cost under £20 and I am seriously happy right now as I often come home feeling a little deflated if I can't get a good haul of bargains. The cushions came in a set of four and are being used on the window seat in the girls room to add a bit of padding to the wood and at 30p each were an absolute steal. The other two main bargains came in the form of the jug, tea cups with saucers and side plates and the Next teapot all for £3. Ridiculous, really - they may as well be giving it away. The big bargain was the massive Next wool rug for all of £3.50. Originally £5 he knocked the price down to £3.50 as his wife wasn't there without me even asking! While it's a bit dark and plain I can not pass up a bargain like that so it's going to live beneath the coffee table in the living room.
Three handled glasses for cocktails in the garden, two pairs of shoes for the girls plus a doll (not pictured), a floral vase with artificial purple toned flowers to sit upon the sideboard I painted a lilac toned grey last week, a necklace and a floral crown later and I am all set for a picnic in the garden with the girls rather than moving at all for the rest of the day. I'm going to curl up with a smoothie in one of these glass mugs later and watch the TV BAFTA's because, you know, award shows are my thing. What have you been up to today?
So jealous of your bargains, especially that necklace! The car boots round my local area are all a bit naff but this summer I finally have a car of my own so I can hopefully venture to some further afield for bargains galore x

I'm very jealous of your buys! I love a good carboot/charity shop and I know that feeling of coming home empty handed.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos too!
I don't think there are any car boot sales near me anymore which is a shame. I love the tea pot that you picked up, it's absolutely gorgeous!

Those cups! That teapot! Cushions for 30p? Clearly I need to move house, the last carboot I went to was filled with absolute tat and had nothing for less than a fiver. Good luck with you garden picnic plan, hopefully there'll be some good weather soon enough for it.

Amazing bargains! I love seeing what people pick up at car boot sales. I've been revising for my final exams this weekend but last bank holiday I picked up the first three series of Big Bang Theory on dvd for £1. I was pretty happy with that. Great finds :) ox
