Monday night was an absolute blast. After being picked up in my home city we drove into Cardiff for a dinner stop at Yo! Sushi for a delicious Blue Monday treat. Sometimes it's so difficult to not just sit there and continue eating because the food comes to you and that is like a lazy Japanese food lovers dream. Joanna and I chatted through our sushi, made some phone calls and caught up with pretty much everything over the past few months that we could think to be relevant before heading to Starbucks for a coffee run and down to Krispy Kreme because dessert was definitely in order despite my mind telling me that my frappuccino was definitely considered dessert. I ended up picking up a little treat for the girls on the way back through to the car which will undoubtedly feature here very soon - I'm 100% sure they'll be obsessed with it as much as I was when I saw it at it's new sale price.
With dinner off our minds we drove down to Cardiff Bay where Derren Brown's first date of his Infamous tour leg in Cardiff was kicking off. After grabbing our tickets at the box office we strolled down to the front to take a few photos beside the water. Only Sunday I was complaining that I was jealous of those with extremely talented photographer boyfriends so I took the opportunity to hand Joanna the camera and capture my outfit on film. Was it the best outfit ever? No. It does however serve its purpose and promises a grander foray into the world of outfit posts in the future. I'm definitely going to get boyfriend's nose in a book or learn how to position myself so the remote doesn't show quite as much as it has in previous test runs.
I'm not going to spoil anything about the Infamous tour for those of who who have yet to see it or are waiting for the DVD but it was absolutely phenomenal. I'm a huge fan of Derren Brown but when you see it on the TV there are many things that roll through your mind in regards to stooges and clever editing. I had a great seat to the point of touching him several times as he breezed past and while I'm quite analytical I couldn't pick up on anything other than his immense and immaculate stage presence and routine (which of course, is the point). He is not only astoundingly good at what he does but the theatrics that go along with the show from the set design to the intricacies of the show to the sheer dedication and work it must have taken him (or he sold his soul). No matter how many times you think you've got it - that you've figured it out and that from here on out it'll be the same old, same old - it never ever is and that's what's so exhilarating. I'm not quite sure whether to be a little upset that I couldn't achieve what I wanted to, though (but, spoilers). If there are still tickets left near you and you like yourself a bit of our Derren, they're worth the price and I urge you to see it for yourself. Otherwise, there's always the DVD soon to pause and discuss if you're anything like boyfriend and I.
I loved it and couldn't figure out any of the tricks at all. Love that he does mix of classic card stuff and more elaborate illusions. Clever guy x
ReplyDeleteI went to see his show in August and my friend and I were in the group of people who got onstage in the second half. So amazing!! From my vantage seat behind him, I couldn't see anything dodgy going on! HE'S A REAL WIZARD!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe Pierhead is one of my favourite buildings. There's a lovely little exhibition inside if you visit there in the day. A lovely photo of it with the statue of Ivor Novello in front. He was my grandmothers cousin and it makes me so proud every time I walk passed :)
