I'm not a lucky person and I'm often found saying that I've never won anything but that's not quite true. I haven't won much through luck but yesterday this beautiful arrangement of flowers arrived on my doorstep courtesy of Moonpig after I won a Twitter competition last week hosted by The Huffington Post. I was over the moon because a) we all know I adore fresh flowers and b) because 'I've never won anything'.
Looking back I've won awards at school, lots of trophies in dance when I used to compete on a national level etc but these were on merit. What I really mean is I don't win a lot through sheer luck. I know people who seem to win a lot all the time on everything from scratch cards to competitions online. It's true when they say you have to be in it to win it because I don't tend to spend a lot of time entering giveaways, competitions or buying scratch cards but there does seem to be a handful of people we all know who seem to be lucky.
Some say we make our own luck and I do think that's true. Be in the right place at the right time, take chances and opportunities so things that may not have been accessible before suddenly will be and there'll be a chance but a lot of times the odds are against you. Does that mean we stop trying? According to the amount of people who gamble and/or play the lottery, no. So here's to my future luck and the chances I'm going to take to actually be in the game because it's so nice when you win something and feel that slight elation and hell, someone has to win, right? Why not me? Why not you? I won't be gambling or playing the lottery every week but when I see those giveaways and competitions I think I'll never in a million years win I'll still go for it and put my name into the hat regardless in the hope that I will win.
I'm the same .. I never win! But then I never enter anything! I'm always playing the "if I won the lottery" game which is daft cos I never play it!

Hi sweetie! I'm a new follower to your lovely little blog, and I just wanted to say thank you for sending me your link in Sunday's chat. I'm so glad I finally stumbled across your little corner on the internet and I have thoroughly enjoyed reading through your posts. I've found myself slightly obsessed with your blog and you have definitely inspired me. I absolutely love this post, I myself have never won anything either, yet coming to think of it, I've not put myself out there in that many situations; you definitely do have to be in it to win it. Good luck with your future and I look forward to reading your up and coming blogposts

You definitely can make your own luck! My amazing mother has always said that when you try to see things more positively, you can see that you have actually been lucky all along. I agree with her 100%. In all honesty I have never been so great at being optimistic so this post was definitely an "amen, sister!" to me. Keep on keepin on and you'll have more luck than you would have thought. Perseverence!
ReplyDeleteThis is the first post of yours I've read and I'll definitely be reading more. I really like your blogging style!
