This week it really feels like Spring has sprung with the bright almost warm weather that's perfect for walks in the park with a picnic in your oversized tote and the amount of pastels everywhere. I'm no exception - I've been working pastels on my nails and in small elements in my home from fresh flowers to new sofa throws and scented candles. I've been adoring throwing open the back door in the morning and leaving it open, turning the heating off in the evening to snuggle under a blanket and airing out everything. It's safe to say I'm in Spring organisation mode even if that organisation hasn't extended to deep cleaning quite yet.
First of all, what do you think of the new design? In the past few days I've had three different designs that I knocked up quickly but none of them felt like something I wanted to keep and what I wanted to express my blog through so I changed it up. Peonies? Check. Bright pops of colour? Check. Categories in the sidebar making it easier for everyone? Check. Links that follow you around stalking you until you follow me? There's that too! Let me know what you think, whether it's user friendly enough or whether you can't stand it. I love it but I understand it's never to everyone's taste.
Dexter has been super naughty this past week ripping the stuffing out of the scatter cushions on the sofa, doing his business inside and generally being a pain in the bum. He's eight months old now and everything was going so well but he's just become a nightmare overnight. Coupled with the fact that all night while I'm working the guinea pigs sound like mini caged Chewbacca's and Sadie eat half a corned beef pie boyfriend had spent an hour preparing and making after he left it to cool on the side - well, this week hasn't been the best for the animals in the house. I'm going to devote some time this week to taking them on longer walks, playing with them more and basically detracting their attention from anything they may do to annoy the hell out of me. I can never stay mad but boy, in the moment I need to go and calm down or I'll end up screaming at them.
I've completed a few designs this week too and Nina's went up yesterday. I've also created Layla's birthday invitations ready for June so they need to be printed out, created a template for patterned envelope inserts and a hell of a lot of tissue paper pom pom's in various sizes and colours as trial runs for Layla's decorations over her mini-afternoon tea party. I'm thinking we'll use whites and pale pink's, maybe a hot pink layer too to create a little ombre but I'm experimenting with all sorts from pom pom's to tasselled bunting in preparation and they can be reused as decorations for other occasions.
What does "Bunny Cake" smell like?! I'm not always a huge fan of the cake scented Yankee Candles, I tend to find them a bit too sweet.

I love the new design - think it's very pretty! Pets always add that little bit of chaos to a household don't they? My cats used to cause chaos as well, scratching everything and making a mess, but I could never stay mad at them.

I love the new layout and all your fantastic photos. Your blog constantly makes me swoon/want to eat cake (all you have to do is mention the word!)
