I'm a big MAC fan but I rarely buy into the hype of new or limited edition collections, usually because they're souped up colours that MAC already stock in a permanent line but this time I couldn't resist. While I'm not a huge fan of Rihanna or of it's almost garish rose gold packaging (I would have much preferred a matte black similar to NARS with a rose gold signature) as soon as I saw Talk That Talk I had to have it. After it being sold out online I managed to grab one from a MAC standalone store in Cardiff and from that day on it has been a tumultuous relationship.
It's a beautiful deep purple, so A/W ready and my favourite matte finish but being a retro matte it does take some perseverance to apply. I usually apply a thin coat to moisturised lips with a lip brush and apply from there from the bullet but it took a while to get there as if you just apply from the bullet it can be ridiculously patchy and if you try to apply more and more the effect becomes worse. It's definitely worth persevering though as once you get the technique that works for you it's phenomenal, lasts hours without reapplication during food and drink and is such a beautiful almost gothic colour that can work on both pale and darker skin tones.
Your right about the packaging but it looks such a amazing colour! I really wish my closest Mac hadn't sold out now!

The only downside to being blonde is I feel I can't wear these colours :(
