I haven't written a favourite products post in a while (or a product post at all, for that matter) so I thought I'd show you my favourites from October. I did a lot of shopping my stash and it ignited a lot of love for a few old products but I also went on a little splurge in MAC for some old favourites to replace and one new product which I am in love with.
So first up, the star of the show. Moroccan Oil (*) has been spoken about and raved about so when I was sent a bottle to try I was over the moon. I can say I am firmly in the latter camp with it making my frizzy very dry hair utterly silky and it also works wonders on synthetic hair so wigs and extensions can be tamed without splashing out on another set of expensive products. From MAC I picked up the cream highlighter in Pearl, the eyeshadow in Charcoal (a matte brown for my brows) and the Studio Fix fluid foundation in NW13. NW13 is a relatively new shade to bridge the gap between two of the most popular light shades and since I used to have to mix this is amazing for me. The foundation is matte but has a decent coverage and feels like skin after application so I'm a convert. The RiRi lipstick in Talk That Talk was picked up back on it's release date and only worn twice at the time but for the last two weeks it's been a pick me up lipstick. Whenever I'm down I'll carefully apply this and head out and to be honest I feel totally badass.
The Maybelline Rocket mascara is the non-waterproof version but it holds up so well to water and the odd tear that I haven't bothered to purchase the waterproof version. For me it gives the same effect as Benefit's They're Real without the horrible removal process and price tag. Rimmel are quite possibly my favourite high street brand right now with their nude eyeliner (works wondered on tired, red waterlines to open up the eyes) and their new formula lipsticks making my favourites. Bourjois are wonderful too with their unbeatable-for-the-price chocolate bronzer and a baked peach shimmer eyeshadow making it's way into my every day bag for a little extra kick to daily make-up. As for the essential oils - if you blend the lavender and bergamot in an oil burner together you will be in relaxation heaven - that is, if you like the scents. I'm such a fan of oils but I've never thought of using them as a home scent and only dropped some in the bath or with a base oil to use in massage but really, it's beautiful and I burn them for a few minutes every day to scent the living room.
I need to get some Moroccan oil, I have only ever heard wonderful things about it!x
ReplyDeleteIt really is wonderful if your hair isn't very healthy. I know Erica had some but because her hair is in such good condition it didn't help too much.
DeleteI'm a huge scent fiend too. Recently I've dragged out my ancient oil burner and have been burning rosemary oil. I also have a little spritzer which I fill with a lavender oil and water mix and spray onto my pillow before bedtime. Bliss!
ReplyDeleteI agree about the morocconoil..its a really hair gamer!
ReplyDeleteoh great favourites list, not tried so many of these, but they sound good
