Saturday morning, bright and early, I boarded a train on an empty platform for a three hour journey up to Nottingham where my other best friend Georgina is currently living while in her final year of university and her boyfriend, also a hometown native, was also waiting not only to greet me but also to accompany me back home the next day. Sophia had planned a bloggers meet but since she was unwell and I had already made travel plans I emailed a few girls and met up with Charley and Rebecca at the station. We went on to Space NK, Las Iguanas for lunch and a spot of shopping at Debenhams and MAC before I had to sadly part with them (without taking any photographs except on Instagram!) to head back to the new flat with J, Georgina's boyfriend.
On the way home we picked up two bottles of wine, a munchkin pumpkin and a bottle of Baileys and proceeded to text her as she awoke from her nap that we were lost and that there were a very many things following us making us rather unnerved. After a brief telling off for having her so worried we were inside, reunited as we had been two months earlier before she left eating homemade spaghetti bolognase and getting entirely drunk in a teeny tiny living room that I wish I owned. There were quips about cheese, lots of heckling each other, makeovers (I did Georgie's make-up for the evening which was a huge honour as she never lets anyone do it) and a lot of rain with terrible taxi drivers, we made our way into Nottingham city centre to drink wine with other Halloween revellers.
Honestly it was such a good night and I won't go into detail here but I honestly can't wait to go back, even if I did start crying on the walk home about me wanting to go back to the motherland as anxiety had well and truly kicked in. After cheese and chips it was time to fall into silk sheets and attempt to sleep but I barely remember my head hitting the pillow before my alarm piped up at 9:30am and J was wandering in bringing me a big mug of sugary coffee.
Later that morning we ventured out to grab J's train ticket and while Georgie thought it would be hilarious to tell him that he's going to Sheffield and not Wales as she found some tickets in the machine all I thought of was coffee so we headed to the closest coffee shop and grabbed a pumpkin spice latte to see us through the morning. After a very tearful goodbye to Georgie, J and I settled down at a table seat and poured over property porn on RightMove, talked about our lives and all sorts which really whiled away the three hours until we were home.
I didn't take as many photos as I would have loved to as I had a handbag, a huge heavy travel bag, my camera etc and my feet were killing me so next time I return I'll be taking only the essentials and getting my camera out at every opportunity because it really seems like such a fantastic city.
This sounds like an eventful little weekend! The best kind really. I've always wanted to visit Nottingham, I've heard the nights out are especially amazing.
