I woke up this morning and cancelled all the things I had planned within an hour. I'm off to Nottingham tomorrow which is a four and a half hour journey on the train and I felt like death so I thought travelling on the train today might just finish me off. At lunch time the girls were restless with it being the first day of half term here due to a teacher training day and S and I had just about had enough so I dragged myself into an oversized shirt, a pair of leggings and some tall boots and we went out for lunch just to be out. With the town centre just a five minute bus ride away we decided to do a little bit of art supply shopping to keep the girls occupied this weekend while I'm away and grab some lunch in my favourite little cafe, Cedars.
Tucked away on the outer streets but in the centre of town there's a little tea room with freshly cooked delicious food, the most amazing lattes with wooden tables and hanging plants that overlook the chef himself pottering around in the little kitchen. It has such a homemade feel to it and the staff are so warm and welcoming it's hard to ever want to go anywhere else. Plus this huge all day breakfast with a latte for £4.99? Done deal!
With Layla deciding she wanted to bring her (toy) camera since I was bringing mine we all piled into the tiny cafe and ordered lunch - an all day breakfast for S and I and a cheese omelette for the girls - while we snapped away playing with settings since I'm really trying to get to grips with my camera. That was until I'm complaining it won't work and someone I've never met before reminded me I still had the lens cap on. Well, that was helpful even if I was a little embarrassed for being so forgetful.
After lunch we had a little wander and popped into Starbucks where my friend Sophie has just been promoted to supervisor and in exchange for our congratulations she popped two Maom bars into the girls hands and filled up a cup with pure whipped cream and caramel sauce, popped two spoons in and told them to enjoy. I told her to enjoy the texts of cries for help later when they're on a mental sugar rush.
you and your family are so cute! I love these posts of your life.
ReplyDeletehaha I bet the girls loved all that whipped cream! You'll have to take me to Cedars when I come and visit one day. It sounds like perfection! xx
