This weekend was spent making the most of the final rays of sunshine the lagging days of summer have left behind behind the lens of my new camera. To say I'm completely in love with it is an understatement and I'm having a thoroughly good time getting back into shooting in something that isn't clearly labelled 'Auto'.
We don't live in an idyllic location but these photographs tell me otherwise. Our garden is a grey slate moderate expanse with a raised slabbed patio surrounded by 30ft walls of a restaurant, an old barn and next door's 5ft5" wall but I tried to focus on the smaller details such as the huge bush that consumes our back wall, small flower details, fresh rosemary and the skyline looking out onto the city.
In the garden I am usually sat on the bare ground in tracksuit bottoms and old shabby trainers with a big cup of coffee watching Mia play with the dogs, kicking around a ball or smelling the rosemary straight from the bush; she often brings it to me to put in between her inevitably messy braid. We get dirty and enjoy whatever small amounts of light filter over the high walls and feel safe because for that moment we are.
I love rats so much!! Even if they're wild and running around gardens, I want to play with them!
ReplyDeleteYou're a weirdo.
DeleteN'wah such a lovely garden space, Ella! I often complain about where I live but then I take a moment to appreciate the smaller details together, and it's not too bad at all. (: And er, how adorable is your pug and your little one!! x
ReplyDeleteI love your writing style in your blog posts, love. Gorgeous photos! I envy your garden, can't wait til we have our own to populate with furbabies. :)
