The Usual Suspects - Everyday Makeup

I haven't posted about make up in a while but it's still my favourite thing to do in the mornings and I do go slightly crazy in both beauty halls and Boots. I think I'm just a little bored of blogging beauty and while there's still that buzz inside when I read about a launch or product that my brain clicks as a must-have it's just not as important to me anymore as say, spending the money on doing up the house or taking a day trip somewhere. I have a fair few products on rotation but I thought I'd show you the products I use most on a day to day basis. It looks like quite a lot of make up but I don't like my face to look too made up so it does look semi-natural on.

This primer is everything to me. The Laura Mercier radiance primer creates the perfect slightly golden toned luminous base before foundation and it really comes through especially on the high points of your face. The Bourjois Healthy Mix serum foundation is my all time favourite drug store base. I can't live without it and I love how it gives just enough coverage to be more than a tinted moisturiser without going full on. I add coverage with the Collection Lasting Perfection concealer and it's just perfect for hiding those dark circles I suffer with, rosacea on my cheeks and the odd bit of redness near my nose and eyebrows. It's not too much and with my dry skin I'm finding more and more that foundations just don't give me everything I expect so I resist spending lots of money on new ones to test when this, my NARS Sheer Glow and my Estee Lauder Double Wear give me everything I need. On the cheeks I use an Illamasqua concealer in 302 as a cream contour colour and Sleek blush in rose gold really sparingly just to give some shape. My friend bought me this Accessorize baked eyeshadow but as an eyeshadow it is terrible. However on the cheekbones really sparingly it's a really good highlighter - albeit ever so slightly too much with a bit of a heavy hand. I set it all with the Rimmel Stay Matte pressed powder which really is amazing.

For eyes I use the Make Up Revolution palette that's a pretty good and very cheap dupe for the Naked 3 palette. I usually stick to the matte shades for every day with a little of the second colour to the left on the centre of the lid to add some brightness. The liner is amazing and it's the Collection liner that really is properly black and almost smudge proof. The latest mascara I'm using is this No7 one but I'm not in love with it. I'm still searching for my holy grail, sadly but it's decent and gets me through with a good dose of pressure from some eyelash curlers beforehand. The brows are all about MAC Charcoal Brown on an angled brush with a little bit of any brow gel or wax I have laying around to set.

I'm a huge fan of bright lip colours but lately I've been going for a more muted petal pink tone from this L'Oreal lip gloss/lip stain YSL dupe (but nowhere near as good). It's not the most amazing thing in the world and I find it a little tacky but it's such a pretty colour that I always end up popping some on. The best part is when the gloss wears off it leaves my lips with a slight stain and because it's so light it's barely noticeable so I don't have to worry about re-applying as I would with my brighter or darker shades.

This is what I wear day to day give or take the contour. I'm almost never without some concealer, mascara and liquid eyeliner but I do like to dress my face up pretty much every day even if my hair is scraped up and I'm wearing pyjamas with foundation marks on the thighs just staying at home. I feel pretty naked without anything on my face but I am so glad for the evenings when I take it all off and those lazy weekends where I wander around completely free of any product whatsoever.
