Resting Up & Masculine Decor

Today was a recovery day. I've not been well for a few weeks now on and off and yesterday something terrible happened to my body somehow and I went down. I'm still recovering today although I feel fine (until I push it a bit too far) so I've been making the most of the down time with iced coffee's and Ed Sheeran's new album X on Spotify.

The bedroom is the last place I end up decorating every time because I just don't spend very much time there. Wilko sent me this striped duvet set that has a monochrome stripe pattern on one side and is reversible to a monochrome chevron (my favourite). Since the house is very much both of our tastes with a bit more of me put into the design elements, I've vowed to make the bathroom and bedroom a little less floral and rustic in favour of a bit more of a masculine modern theme.

We have a red feature wall that has been there untouched for about three years so boyfriend's plan is to hang posters in frames there, make a bed frame that's full of storage and utilise the space we have. I don't mind the monochrome but the red really is a compromise as if I had it my way I'd paint straight over it with white and really open up the room with some yellow and grey accents. He's really loving the monochrome bedding as opposed to the red and white floral print we had before and I've got to say, it's pretty striking and super comfortable when washed a few times with some fabric conditioner as I usually find cheaper duvet sets to be pretty starchy.

So while I'm resting up for the rest of the evening with blogs and the first episode of the new season of Falling Skies, tell me what you're up to this evening and if you have any thoughts on what would go well in a small room with a monochrome, masculine theme?

  1. I'm planning on buying that duvet set for my student flat, also currently crocheting a blanket to match. You could maybe get some prints framed in plain black photo frames or maybe movie posters for movies you saw together?

  2. I'm listening to 'X' now. Ed Sheeran's voice is like a hug to your ears, sooo beautiful! I actually really like that duvet cover though it's not my usual taste. xx
