I'm on a mission to bring some colour back into my home and where better to start than Ikea? I have a pretty big obsession with Ikea and end up spending far more than I ever intended to every time I walk through those automatic doors. I come home with big blue bags full of things I never thought I needed until I saw them and for some reason batteries - lots of batteries. Plus, the stationary section combined with the food section always sees me go way over budget and come home extremely satisfied. I'm quite lucky that the nearest one is a half an hour drive away, it's not easy to get to via public transport and that I don't own a car which kind of justifies my massive splurges whenever I get close.
I've fallen in love with these bright patterned cushions and have so many on my bed that I end up distributing them around different rooms of the house but after five years they definitely need an update. I'm thinking one each as a little decorative touch to the kitchen table chairs? They're so cheap it'd be rude not to buy at least four. The rug is the perfect size for my entrance hall and would look pretty great against the deep grey walls to bring a bit of interest as you walk in. Of course, then I'd have to update the lighting but still, any excuse for more home shopping. I'm needing the children's table and chairs too. The girls have a desk each but they're plastic and bulky so this little thing would be perfect for some homework and crafting in their room. It's really cheap so it's definitely on my list when I next pop in but with delivery being £35 I think I will pop to the store for this one.
What do you think? Do you love Ikea as much as I do? I can imagine white flowers in the mint green planter on a windowsill or possibly an updated pot for my herb garden in the kitchen? The great thing with Ikea is the pieces are modern but transformative and can work against existing decor to create something a little bit more fresh. I have such a mix of old and new in my home with different textures and colours of wood so adding these pieces into the mix really makes it a bit more interesting at a really cheap price (except when you go mental in which you internally cry as you insert your debit card).
So bright and pretty! I love them. Especially the cushion!

I've actually never been to Ikea! It nearly happened once, when I needed a houseplant and discovered they are seemingly the only place in London that sell them, but then someone got me one as a gift but it was okay. Seeing these pictures though, especially that pillow, means I need to finally go!
