Life, Indoors

This weekend we've spent a lot of time indoors from sorting out the office, cleaning everything ready for a fresh coat of gloss on every available surface this week and getting organised ready to get back to work this week. This week is different as for the next two both girls are off from school and childcare for the week which means I have to work around them. It's always pretty hectic during these weeks but I manage by working into the night except this week just feels different.

And so it is. Layla woke up this morning with a temperature and what appears to be a bad cold that has wiped most of her personality out within a few hours and left her a ball of cuddly germs. With Amelia being perfectly fine and wanting to play with beads of all colours around her throat and in her hair jingle-jangling through the house - well, work is just not on my agenda until bedtime. Instead I've been making homemade iced coffee frappuccino's in old Starbucks plastic cups, raw kale and chicken salad with croutons fried in groundnut oil (my new favourite lunch) and making homemade vegetable soups to freeze for Layla which seem to be going down a treat despite the fact that I didn't really know what I was doing when I made them.

In the evenings this weekend it's been all about binge-watching TV shows and since boyfriend stayed for the weekend for the first time since the incident a few weeks back I introduced him to True Detective. We watched the lot in one night because he just couldn't get enough and there was me sat there wishing I could Eternal Sunshine my mind so I could experience it for the first time once again. It is just so, so brilliant and one of the best TV shows I've seen in years and while I can't imagine it for S2 without Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey I'm sure the anthology in the future will be just as brilliant with the phenomenal writing and directing they have. Seriously, if you need something new, True Detective is it. It's like a cop show but...better. So, so much better. I really can't rave about it enough and the performances are absolutely stellar.

How was your weekend? What did you get up to?
