I've been planning on picking up a few new items for Spring for the longest time but I never seem to get around to it as I'm one of those people who likes to see things in person, swatch them and really feel things before I order (but that's not to say I've not had a few online impulse buys). When I got the chance I was all over it and ended up getting a few things ticked off my budget wish list for the season ahead. I'm very attracted to pastels and brighter colours now the evenings are becoming that tiny bit lighter and the light is changing ever-so-slightly so it's no surprise that the products I picked up were very S/S oriented.
The Yankee Bunny Cake candle was a bit of a splurge as I don't tend to spend so much on these candles preferring to save for a beautiful Jo Malone or Diptyque offering but I just couldn't resist. Bunny Cake is from the 2014 Easter range and smells like vanilla, coconut and sugary frosting with a little bit of a citrus kick keeping it from being too overpoweringly sweet like their Vanilla Frosting, Christmas Cookie etc can be in larger doses. I'm going to have to pick up at least another large jar to see me through because I've been burning it non=stop since I purchased it and it's already to the centre of the Yankee Candle logo on the front!
For make up I took full advantage of the Boots 3 for 2 offer on make-up and picked up a new foundation, a little something for the brows and a Revlon matte balm. I'm an advocate for Rimmel and Bourjois foundations on the high street and I love Match Perfection but I've previously bought Ivory which is a little too dark so I've steered clear since. While browsing and um-ing and ah-ing I saw a shade I hadn't seen before, Light Porcelain. It's perfect for my skin tone and works well with my pink undertones so if anyone's tried the Ivory and found it slightly too dark then try the Light Porcelain. Bourjois, take note! I need something a tad lighter than 51 too! The Revlon matte balm is a beautiful bright pink that's a little more neon than hot pink but totally wearable. The shade is Unapolagetic and my, it's a beauty. I love how pigmented it is for a balm too plus the fact that it's matte never fails in my book. The Maybelline Brow Drama was a little bit of an impulse buy but it turned out to be a great one. If your eyebrows are already dark then don't bother and opt for a clear mascara to set your brows but if your eyebrows are blonde and sparse looking but you want natural definition for every day - go for this! It's made my eyebrows decently dark and defined enough without harsher powders for every day and for something a little more dramatic I'd just define a little more with powder. Plus the brush? It's bloody perfect for brows.
In Superdrug I picked up a new Undressed palette, an MUA velvet lip colour in a bright orange shade called Atomic which I adore plus two pastel Barry M Nail Paints to ease myself into all pastels all the time. The Barry M make up is on a buy one get one half price offer too so if you're in the market, head to Boots or Superdrug for decent deals!
Finally in Primark I couldn't resist these My Little Pony pyjama leggings and some bobbly cosy socks. I love the bobbly ones as I find them a little more grippy on slippery wooden floors so to keep my feet cosy at night these are perfect plus they go really well with the pyjama bottoms. As much as I love the slouchy fit bottoms I just feel so comfortable in these leggings. They are unflattering on big legs but I'm at home with no make up, my hair up and a book - literally everything about me is unflattering wearing these so it's really no big deal.
I should not have read this. I was only complaining to the boy today that my Yankee candles were nearly gone and I had to buy more. I'll have to take a trip into town tomorrow now to see if I can seek this out, I'm a sucker for anything vanilla/citrus!
ReplyDeleteI have Penneys(Primark) leggings like that too, except mine are Care Bear ones. They're super unflattering, but so comfy! I find that the waistband is really high on them though, I don't know if it's because I wear looser ones on my hips, but I feel like Simon Cowell when I wear them!

DeleteLots of fab things in this haul! I am really excited for Spring, and all the colourful things! I'll have to check out the new yankee candles soon, sounds looovely! x
ReplyDeleteI'm such a fan of colour and I wear so little of it so surrounding myself with it is the next best thing. Definitely smell them when you can - Bunny Cake is divine!

DeleteOooh I really do love those bobbly Primark socks, I bought a pack before Christmas and they've amazingly lasted until now and probably will last a few more months! Also loving Primark's pyjama leggings, I find them so much more cosy than your bog standard pyjama bottom :) I always get the Moomin ones x
ReplyDeleteI find the fluffier ones don't last as long so these are my new favourites. I NEED Moomin ones.
