Spring Days & Little Purchases

Today we got up early, ate a big breakfast and headed on the bus to Cardiff. Most of the bloggers in the area were meeting up today but since I wasn't feeling at all up to real socialisation we decided to head to the museum which is much larger and a lot better than the one in our city and still free. It was such a beautiful day that we didn't pack coats and instead got off the bus a stop early and walked underneath the trees to take in the good weather. I didn't take any photos inside the museum but the girls were fascinated with the fountains outside. That's not to say they weren't fascinated inside with the rooms filled with glittering stars and projectors displaying the beginning of the earth along with skeletons of dinosaurs and a moving replica mammoth "Just like from Ice Age, Mamma!"

We walked beneath the underpass and into the town with the castle to our right on the hunt for lunch. After pricing up £40 for a meal in one restaurant and the time in queue's for others we all but gave up before Layla piped up that she really wanted a KFC. Cheap, cheerful and quite a rarity in our city as we rarely go in the direction of the local ones and that was lunch set. I tried my first bubble tea (strawberry with strawberry fruit juice bubbles - eh, I'm not convinced - by the strawberry at least) and we walked around hunting a few gems in the shops on a limited budget. We popped into M&S to pick up some aubergines, ricotta cheese and spinach (any idea what's for dinner? Recipe soon!) and then on to Lush for some Easter bath treats before they pop out of the store just as soon as they popped in.

On the way home we caught a double decker bus and the girls were so excited. Seriously, they love double decker buses but this one? This had seat belts and tables. Simple things but boy, I was glad to rest against something and not cram my 5ft10in frame into a packed bus with teeny-tiny-no-leg-room seats.

I didn't buy much but I did have to pop into Tiger and ended up wanting a lot more than I actually went to the till with, as always. I ended up buying this tiny weighty pastel bunny which I thought would look adorable on my dressing table, finger puppets for the girls and these chalk board pegs (you know, for labelling...things). I'd not tried Little Miracles but god knows it's got to be better than the caffeine riddled Monster I tend to drink far too much of to get me through the day and, of course, an amethyst slab from the museum because I've decided I will build up a little collection again. Oh, nostalgia!

In Lush I swore to myself I wouldn't spend over £10 but these two eggs gave me a few pence change. The first, The Immaculate Eggception in yellow was one I was just not sure about. It smells great but for £7? After a demonstration, I was hooked. You crack the egg and use half of the shell for one bath, the other half for another bath and inside there's a tiny pink or white bunny or chick that constitutes as another bath. Pretty great, right? Plus, it rattles and if anyone knows how much I love Golden Wonder at Christmas you'll also know I love a good rattle. I couldn't resist Fluffy Egg either because I'm all out of Snow Fairy and this scent is pretty much Snow Fairy in a bath bomb. Plus, how cute?

How was your Saturday? What did you do?
