I'm late to the Blogosphere party with it launching back last year but I'm firmly on board right now. I've seen mentions of the magazine around, followed them on Twitter for a while and I just couldn't wait any longer to order all three print issues (£13.25 from Newsstand). I don't have an iPad or e-reader of any kind so the digital option didn't seem apt but even if I did I think I would have ordered the printed version regardless because while it may be a little more expensive I also like to read in the bath and technology near water in my hands? No thank you.
With free delivery the package arrived two days later and I couldn't wait to take a look inside. Issue 1 has Estee from the very well known and loved Essiebutton with Issue 2 featuring Liberty London Girl and Issue 3's cover star being the beautiful Fleur De Force. The magazines cover everything from food, travel, fashion, beauty, lifestyle and photography with such small ads I almost missed them. This pleases me greatly as I really hate having to trawl through pages and pages of ads to get to any substantial content. The premise is that this magazine is by bloggers for bloggers which in itself is brilliant and rather useful but it also opens up an editorial rapport that you often don't get on their personal websites.
One blogger from each category is interviewed (they state their stats and the type of camera they use too - handy if, like me, you're a little bit nosy) and that blogger recommends five other blogs they love. There's pieces on these bloggers too which is extremely insightful and I find myself putting down the magazine to open up my laptop and indulge in an online reading session through all of these recommendations. Yes, I'm hooked on quite a few new blogs already. It's very easy to fall into the trap of only reading lifestyle/beauty/fashion blogs if that's what you write and I do tend to read mostly beauty and lifestyle so branching out into travel and food blogs is a breath of fresh air. Sometimes I forget there's a world outside of the close up's of lipstick and someone's outfit but that's the beauty of it - it opens us up to all the different kinds of blogs there are out there from older to newer who are all accomplished in their niche. Some of the photography is just so inspiring both in print and on the screen that I keep revisiting the same post over and over for inspiration. That's a new feeling.
The tone of the magazine is very much like a magazine which when you're thinking about blogs can be a bit odd to adjust to but I actually really love it. It differentiates the personal blogs of those featured from the publication they are being featured in. I'll definitely be picking up further issues and hopefully discovering more blogs outside that continue to inspire me. The latest issue of Blogosphere in digital form is £3 with the previous two being £2 but all print copies retail at £4 each.
I've never read this, although I might take a look now :) x

I never would have thought to look at these but once I get paid I'm definitely going to order them! x
ReplyDeleteI must admit, I wasn't wholly convinced by the hype. A couple of quid for a digital magazine seems bit steep when it's not much more for the physical thing, but it does seem like an interesting read all the same.
ReplyDeleteI have never read this but I'm not sure why, I love blogging and reading a magazine on it would be great.
