The Pinterest Diaries - Colourful Living Areas

I love home interiors. I love having a nose through people's living spaces as I feel they speak volumes about who the people who live there are. If you walk into my home you'll see a mish-mash of furniture, pops of bright colour, a little bit of untidiness and corners where I squirrel things away out of sight because I just don't want to organise it at that time but this is not my dream home. One day I'll have everything to my particular taste but right now it is furniture out of necessity and we're slowly plodding along to the dream home with fabrics, a lick of paint here and there and little decorations.

So, being a Pinterest addict I do love to look at the home inspiration more than much else and I find so many photographs of the perfect living spaces. Above are a few of my favourite living rooms - neutrals mixed with bold colour, a little bit of rustic, a little bold print, storage for books and comfortable looking seating. Nothing too organised and definitely not minimalist but somewhere between a little messy and show home. I like my areas to look bright and comfortable but lived in and to show personality in little decorations and furnishings. I love when a home is a collection of things people love rather than things people think they should love.

So what do you think? Which of the above photos are you loving or do you have a completely different taste?

  1. I would love to have a little reading nook like the top picture on your blog with the kids laying around reading!

    1. We have lots of book shelves in ours because I am a hoarder of second hand books. It really closes in the space and makes it look cosy.
