The Sunday Routine

Sundays are my lazy days. I usually wake up around 9:30-10am and fix myself a coffee. Right now I'm loving gingerbread or caramel lattes because I managed to pick up this huge bottle of syrup last week and if it's dry I sit outside on our little bistro set, watch the dogs chase the birds and smoke a cigarette (terrible habit, I know). I potter around for a little while cleaning off the worktops from the night before, making sure the parrot and dogs have fresh food and water and checking on the girls before putting on something comfortable and my running shoes and take the dogs out for an hour's walk. This is especially difficult as with Dexter who's a 3/4 pug he can't walk terribly fast on a lead or at least not as fast as Sadie the big labrador but they insist on going out together so with their harnesses on we make the most of it. If it's dry we head to the local park for a big run around but if it's soaking we usually just roam the streets and see what new scents they can discover while I listen to my iPod on low volume.

When we get home I start preparing lunch. We don't tend to have a big roast every Sunday (it's more like bi-monthly) and this winter I've been really into stews and casseroles made in the slow cooker with crusty bread and real butter so after we sit down and eat in our semi-decorated and quite messy dining room it's time for a DVD for the girls, boyfriend goes out to his mum's, friends or out for a run and I get time to sit down, read a magazine/novel/blogs or take some photos and schedule some blog posts. This time goes far too quickly as an hour and a half really does fly by before it's time to start doing something else around the house.

In the evening after the bath and bedtime routine I settle down with my phone or laptop and take part in the #lbloggers on Twitter, watch some of the TV shows boyfriend and I are currently watching or a film and just relax with a few snacks usually under a big fleecy blanket or duvet as the house gets so cold at night. It's a pretty relaxing day and sometimes we'll head to the cinema or out for lunch but usually it really is the day everyone stays indoors like unsociable hermits and recuperates from the week with good food, great company and warmth which feels like a luxury in January.

What do you do with your Sundays?

  1. Sundays are a half relax day for me. Nice lazy morning and early afternoon then after that it's C25K (once my ankle has healed), weekly shopping at Asda with my flatmate and then through to Stirling for a pub quiz. It's a nice wee routine but I also get freedom in the morning to laze about and read some blogs in bed.

    1. I love a good old pub quiz although I don't get to participate too much anymore and I always lose! Your Sunday sounds pretty relaxing and fun!

  2. Sunday's are 'my day'. Every day is a Brandon day except for Sundays!

I'm up early and out for roller derby. After a few hours of skating I wander round the shops, get some blogging prepared, photos taken for the coming week, then back home to start dinner and watch a dinosaur-related programme (More my benefit than Brandon's though). So Sundays are Derby-Dino-Days for me :)

  3. Sounds like the perfect little Sunday! Pretty much how I spend mine, however I usually do have a
sunday roast, either my boyfriend makes one or we go to his mams :)

  4. Sounds like the perfect Sunday. I love being lazy on a Sunday but then I often feel like I've wasted the day. Such a dilemma. x

    1. Sometimes it gets really repetitive and boring but I'd be lying if I said I didn't appreciate the static nature of it.

  6. this sounds like a perfect winter sunday evening, if my boyfriend wasn't born with ants in his pants and a strong desire to be outside ALL THE TIME this would be a realistic evening, however this only happens when we're both hungover, as much as a love a good lazy sunday x
