Sunday Stress Relief

This past week has seen me not get much work done at all on the things that I really needed to get cracking on. Layla was sent home from school Tuesday feeling extremely ill and by Friday evening we were at the out of hours GP and came home with a prescription for penicillin and a McDonalds strawberry sundae. While she's now perking up a little under the influence of paracetamol, ibroprufen, penicillin and an overbearingly snuggly mother the tonsillitis is still raging her little body rotten and so each night I've been up for all of it waiting for her to call or cry every 45 minutes on the dot.

As a result I've not managed to do much at all outside of the house and I believe the out of hours GP was my first venture since last Tuesday. I've been hooked on sub-par teen drama The Lying Game and now I'm a little sad that it's over. I've been testing new make up and trialling new looks so I can practice some techniques. I've been slept and shed on by the pooches for the most part as I make a most excellent almost-stationary bed and I've been writing a lot. Not blogging but really writing and working on my children's book that I started last year and am not closer to finishing as of yet.

It's been a pretty depressing week if I'm honest. With the severe lack of sleep, running out of coffee mid-morning on a Thursday and having to wait until the evening to get more, our fridge freezer going kaput and having to dip in to our rent savings to buy a second hand one from across town and laying humane traps to catch the mouse that has decided to live in our kitchen the last day or two - I could use a large dose of happiness right now. So that's my mission for today. I'm going to breathe happiness. I'm going to bake, take photos, get some fresh air, write, drink lots of water, take the dogs for a walk, spend time with my family and talk to my friends.

Sometimes a de-stress is just what the doctor ordered.

    1. I try to because it makes me much more positive in my day to day life and I think we could all use a daily dose of happiness to beat the blues that bog us down. Thank you, we are all much better now!

    1. I can't say it was the most enthralling TV series I've ever watched but I was hooked just having to find out what's happening. I'm masochistic like that and it happens even with things I don't like. Weird! All the water and food have definitely gone! ;)

    1. Great lighting does wonders for my dreary green flecked hazel eyes, I tell you. A little brightening and hello green. Thank you!

    1. I really hate McDonalds for the most part but sometimes you just need an unhealthy indulge!

  6. That final picture is just gorgeous!! I am coo-ing at my desk! Sending thoughts and rays of happiness your way - sometimes weeks are just crappy full stop and there's nothing to do but try and pick yourself up in any small way you can. Baking and dog-walking sounds like a great plan.
