Sleek shimmer blush in Rose Gold - £4.49 from Superdrug
Growing up I was scared of blush. I was opposed to adding more colour to my already deeply pigmented cheeks after painstakingly covering every area of redness with Maybelline Dream Matte mousse foundation in thick layers. As much as I am drawn to deep plums and loud, shocking pinks I still have that reluctance to use them inside me and instead I opted for peach tones - not too bronze as my pale skin can't handle it but nothing along the lines of pink or red. Embarrassment isn't beautiful so why would I want to look as if I'm permanently shamed?
Things have changed from then to now, most in the past two years. I count a bright coral cream blush from Topshop as one of my most used blushes throughout all of the seasons and NARS Orgasm and Deep Throat are special treats I use to pick me up a little when I need them most. The Sleek Rose Gold blush is one of my most used since I like to reserve the NARS offerings for special occasions and it's almost a dupe. With it's corally pink base and shimmer pigments running through giving a gold sheen it's the epitome of rose gold in a product and it's gorgeous on so many skin tones. I use a light hand with this as I'm so pale and red already and I sweep it up my cheekbones rather than on the apples of my cheeks. On someone with a darker skin tone this would be the epitome of perfection, no doubt giving colour and depth in one sweep.
When I crushed the blush by dropping my bag I attempted to salvage it but now I am resigned to opening it very carefully and patting rather than brushing the product which also helps in application. I didn't think I would ever be too bothered about a crushed blush but waste not want not and all. With big lashes, a lip stain and a snuggly scarf this is the product I use most to look a little more healthy than I usually do in the winter and for the price against the NARS offering, while it isn't quite as beautiful or as good, it's a great buy.
Photos look great! Very pretty blush! Will have to add this to my shopping list be rude not to, at that price x
