"It Changed My Life"

Claire's Fringe Trimmer - £5.50 from Claire's

Yes, I'm talking to you today about a fringe trimming tool that changed my life. It's not often products or tools revolutionise the way I do things but this? This is magic. It's actually very basic and also common sense but I am both basic and lack in common sense so it appeals to me on an extremely deep level. Essentially it's a plastic clip that you slide to your desired length and cut beneath - as hairdressers do with their fingers. When I do it with my fingers my little girls end up with little Bettie Page fringes and/or 'The Wonk'. It happens so often we actually call it 'The Wonk'. Mistakes shouldn't have names.

I'd heard about this briefly labelled as a 'fringe thing from Claire's' so I wandered into Claire's and asked about the fringe thing. It turns out it's this beauty that's just £5.50 so I raced home, grabbed my children and told them that if they'd sit still I'd make them an apple pie for dessert. Usually it's so fiddly trying to cut their fringe with flyaway hair, wiggly arms and legs and a desire to sing more Disney tunes but it was so easy. I knew where I left off even if they moved and the scissors couldn't go haywire halfway up the forehead (that happened about three years ago).

If you're a bit of a cack hand with scissors trimming your own fringe or you have children, buy one. For £5.50 it may not revolutionise your life but it may and that's got to be worth it?

  1. Wow that's such a great idea, I don't have a fringe now but when I did it was a pain trimming it straight and many of my friends have the same problem too, I shall definitely be directing them to this tool, thanks! Paige xo | Paige’s Ponders

  4. This sounds amazing! I used to have a fringe but grew it out because it got such a pain trimming it! Wish I had known about this, I would have kept it! I shall tell my sister about this as I'm sure this would be handy for her and my niece. Lovely post, thanks for sharing,

  8. I wonder if they make one especially for emo fringes... God knows I need one! I'm so cack-handed when I cut my own fringe!x

  9. My Mum was responsible for quite a few Wonks when I was a kid too. I had a blunt fringe that was never the same length or completely straight. Better than the time I got hold of the scissors and cut a big chuck out of the middle though!

I wish they made this for sweepy side fringes. Mine's not emo-style but it's definitely a little more complex than a straight line. I've been thinking about trimming it myself but I'm SCARED!
