The Sunday Times

Yesterday my best friend came back from her little trip to Rome over her birthday and greeted me mid-street with a brand new puppy who may possibly be a cloud with legs and a few little gifts - festive pasta, a David penis magnet and Italian Elle. After gushing about how we hadn't seen each other for three weeks but how it had actually felt more like months we headed inside to the warmth to be greeted by two manic puppies and two manic children who were just far too excited. I gave her her birthday gift (a Vivienne Westwood bracelet which, thankfully, she adored) and we snuggled. Because we do that.

For the next few hours I had so much time to myself as Georgie took over the role of babysitter and ended up writing with Layla, playing hide and tickle with Amelia and telling them stories and so I cuddled up with a rather large latte and Harry Potter & The Prizoner Of Azkaban. We caught up, we had too many coffees and maybe a few more glasses of wine than we should but hey, it's Saturday night and what else is there to do when you're ashamedly invested in The X Factor final?

This week has been about family, making things right, standing up for myself in situations that I haven't been able to in the past, essentially laying down the law, lots of work, coffee and making ideas come to pixelated life; even if those ideas are very small and ill-formed at the moment.

I am grateful for cold days and excited about staying in with the rain outside. I am loving Cadbury's hot chocolate made in the saucepan with milk and cream. Boyfriend and I have been to the cinema twice this week to see Frozen and The Hobbit both of which I highly recommend and both of which filled me with the joy of seeing everyone content. I am thankful for Starbucks egg nog lattes and politeness in queues even when half of the store is rampaging in some form due to Christmas shopping.

How was your week? What have you been up to?
