Date Night With New Look

Bag, scarf and belt all c/o of New Look

Let me be clear here, I didn't go on a date with New Look (although I'm pretty sure that would be awesome - you have my number, New Look). Instead a beautifully packaged set of goodies arrived last week for me to style and I ended up with this super shimmery light muted gold leopard print scarf, a stretchy thin waist belt embellished with gems and this beautiful grey tote bag. Since we were off to see Captain Phillips at Cineworld last night I thought I'd give them a little outing and they really work together well.

The belt was a little hit or miss for me, not in style because it's right up my street but in size. I was sent a S/M and since I'm an 18-20 a S/M was a little on the side of no. However I tried it on for fun and it fits on my waist well as it's stretchy without pulling or breaking apart. The moral of the story is that sizing is dubious (you undoubtedly know this) and to try it on - it may just fit.

The scarf is probably not something I'd have picked up and while I love scarves leopard print is not something I'm drawn to. The print is so subtle it really works and it's a piece I think would look extra glamorous in the evening with a dress and heels.

But the bag. Honestly, I'm in love. It's huge enough to carry around my life in but not too big that it overwhelms everything you wear. The mix of materials and the colour makes it look much more expensive than it is and that lock - how adorable? Twist into the square et voila! I wish it came with a shoulder strap for convenience but I have had no problem carrying some pretty heavy things in there for the past few days. It's on rotation with my trusty City bag right now and it really adds something against an outfit.

I paired these with some full length leggings, a pair of black flat boots and a New Look grey tweed blazer and finished it off with a grey double bobbled hat for warmth as it seemed extra cold last night for some reason.
