That's A Wrap

I don't like being too hot and I don't like being freezing cold so when Autumn rolls around I get excited. The mornings are crisp and fresh bathed in muted sunlight, the leaves fall and the breeze picks up so all around I'm happy as I get to essentially add a huge open knitted cardigan and scarf to an outfit, whip out the berry toned lips (which, who am I kidding? They never went away) and add red toned browns and plums into my crease rather than taupes and chocolates. Autumn make up, fashion and whole demeanour is my favourite and the slightly grungy trend of tartan only makes me more excited.

I've been through my 'emo' and 'not-quite-goth' phases but I never really left my love for it behind. The heavy eyeliner, the dark lips, the studs and spikes and texture; not to mention the piercings and tattoos. I will happily wear a nude pink dress with black tights, ankle boots and a studded belt. I'll wear florals and studs, mini skirts and platforms, floaty dresses and heavy liner and I feel like a perpetual teenager in that in-between stage constantly. I'm in my twenties, should I not have my style together?

The way I look at it is that as I look at photos of me from five years ago and cringe, thirty year old me will do the same with me and thirty five year old me with her photographic representation of awful. It's something that happens as our lives, figures and tastes evolve beyond all sense and reason so I'm embracing the layers, wrapping my body in swathes of whatever fabric I find fitting and looking forward to the day when these blog photos make me want to hover over the delete button, if they haven't been already.

Have you passed your 'inbetween' phase?

  1. I constantly feel like all my tastes are competing with each other, especially with decor. I'm starting to accept that floral is slowly overtaking everything else in my wardrobe, and I'm okay with that, but in my home I feel like I want shabby chic, mid century modern, bohemian and rustic goods all mish-mashed together somehow. I have no idea how I'm going to make it work! xx
