I don't know about you but on a cold day when we're feeling under the weather and not at all sociable we bake. I tie the ribbons on the girls' princess castle themed aprons, hand them plastic utensils and a wooden spoon and we get to work. While the girls love this part, their favourite is most definitely the homemade edible glitter decorations on top of whatever we have baked. I'm not kidding either. These are the children who have edible glitter on mashed potatoes.
So the other day once we had finished baking and they were calmly dozing with The Little Mermaid in the background serenading me with Part Of This World I was elbow deep in a sink full of strawberry scented suds. After fifteen minutes I figure they must have fallen asleep as it's very rare for them to be so quiet for an extended period of time and fifteen minutes is an extended period of time here so I wipe up and head off to find them.
Sure enough they were dozing but with glitter in their hair, on their faces and even as lipstick. It turns out my eldest loves Pinterest as much as I do and a few days ago we were looking at make-up looks to find a photo of a woman with glittered lips. Channeling this to the best of her five year old artistic ability we ended up with a reflective smidge of the sparkly stuff right across her mouth.
clearly i'm not the only one who loves glitter as much as your girls! let-a-lone edible glatter. mash + glitter could be the best thing i've ever heard of, yum
