This is the B Pure Micellar water from Superdrug's answer to No7, B. Micellar waters have been hugely popular from the rise of cult classic Bioderma and Claudelie to high street bargains from L'Oreal and now, B. The difference between B and all of these other offerings it that B's is a damn ass bastard. I shall tell you why.
So I picked it up whilst on offer for £2.99 instead of it's usual £4.99. I said I picked it up but I actually picked up three as at 150ml it didn't seem enough to last a while. I got it home and eagerly anticipated using it that evening before bed. So there I am, in a towel fresh from the shower squeezing this stuff on to a cotton pad ready to remove the day's war paint. I start from my nose and work outwards and I am pleasantly surprised that it's taking away my Estee Lauder Double Wear with ease. I continue on to the forehead and brows. Lovely job. Now, I get to my lip stain which Bioderma removes easily. It removes well but what's that horrible taste? Oh, that would be this fucking bastard. It takes of chemicals. Bioderma tastes of nothing. Bioderma 1 - B 0.
Now for the part where I almost threw it out of the window. Fair play, I didn't read the back that clearly states not to use on the eyes but it's a micellar water. Bioderma is fine. I put this on a cotton pad, held it over my eyes and....well, Dear God would be a lovely thing to say at this point but I didn't say that. I conjoined a list of the finest curse words I know and yelled a bit. This stuff hurts. It stings like knives roasted over the fires of a thousand evils. I rinsed my eyes. OH THE PAIN. It continued for a good three minutes with my eyes being angry, red and bloodshot.
So all in all, I still use this on my face and even on my eyeshadow and liner with a careful hand as I don't want to waste product and money but for the price of a 500ml Bioderma compared to the price of a few of these, there's little difference and Bioderma is so much better than this mess in a clear container. Some people say they like it but personally I think it should be sorted so it can be used on the eyes. For now?
Bioderma - 25609 B - 0.
I love how honest this review is. I almost picked this up on offer the other day and I'm glad I didn't now. Bioderma is staying put!
ReplyDeleteI love this review :D I actually bought this for my friends birthday a couple of weeks ago, she's popping over tonight so I might just tell her to stay away from it or throw it away if she hasn't already :P I love the title of this post, made me lol :P

I also LOLed :) Plus, I didn't even know what micellar water was until now, so I both was amused and learnt something x
ReplyDeleteI love how honest you have been here.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this. By the sounds of it
this product sounds like the work of the devil!
Or someone who just doesn't like eyes that much.\

I still haven't found better than Bioderma. I tried an organic micellar water once, and it burned my whole skin (I was red for an hour afterwards!). Your story made me remember that! :)
ReplyDeleteI actually had the same experience with this as you. Not only does it taste bad but I hated how it smelled and it made my skin feel tacky. Bioderma all the way.
ReplyDeletehahahahahahhahahahaha omg, amazing review. feel bad for you son, but... that's gold up there^. thank you for sharing.
